The one I love is lost,
He does not delight in you,
He is far away from you.
His sinful ways have ensnared him
And he refuses to turn to you.
His heart cries in anguish
Because evil controls,
But he still refuses to turn to you.
He drowns in his sins
And allows the world to direct him.
He worships gods
Of which he doesn’t even grasp.
Possessions and practices
Have become his gods
And he feels no shame.
In my distress, I cry to you, O Lord.
Show him the error of his ways,
Make known to him the path of life
Just as you’ve made known to me.
Your many gifts have rescued me.
Jesus has saved me from certain death.
Your Holy Spirit develops me,
And speaks volumes of knowledge to my heart.
Your love comforts me.
Your Word instructs me.
You’ve shared eternity with me,
O God, share also with those I love.
Pour on him your unfailing love,
A love that has no condition and no end.
Make in him a soft heart,
No longer that of stone.
Draw him to you, O Lord,
Make your light shine in his heart,
Shine to light the way,
Shine to see your knowledge,
And recognize your instruction.
Grant him repentance, O God,
Bring him to his knees for you
And give him the touch of the Holy Spirit.
Immerse him in the blood of the Lamb
Until he is washed fully clean.
Father, may your will be done
In our lives together.
For you call me to forgive
And you call me to carry on
In a difficult circumstance.
You instruct me to dwell
With one who is my adversary.
I tell you, I do not want to stay,
I’m weary of the pain and agony
That comes to live in our house.
You say kindness and devotion
Will surely win him over.
You fill my heart with love for him
When mine has departed.
You silence my lips,
When wickedness creeps in to speak.
You endure for me
When I can’t continue on my own.
You are my refuge.
You request obedience
And of that I cannot refuse you.
I praise you, O Lord,
For you have given me a new song.
A song of love and wonder
For my King, my redeemer.
I praise you, for in the night
You speak words of comfort
And you direct my path.
Daily you wrap me in your arms
And give me peace.
Father, I trust you
With everything I have
And everything I am.
With you all things are possible.
Lord, with you we will overcome.
O Lord, please don’t be silent.
Let us share rejoicing,
In our love for you.
Delight forevermore,
Lifting you on high.
I plead your ever swiftness
In the saving of my love
As we never know what time we have,
On earth, our counted days.
I dream of your kingdom
And I see him there.
His hands doing the work of my Lord.
Is this a vision from you?
O God, share with us your mercy
And refine us into your best,
Grant us a marriage united in love
So that we may together worship you
As you planned and created us to do.
O God, grant us the privilege together
Of placing you first.
Let us rejoice and sing together
In the glory of your love.
Let us lift our hands together
Reaching out to you,
Worshiping and delighting in you,
Forever and together praising your holy name.

Home
23 April 1998
When I'm out there with you
You are my only one
Each time like brand new
That compares to none
Always honest and always true
As if you’ve just begun
Yours is the place to which I run
You play a constant melody
To ease a troubled soul
Yours is a world without sin or shame
That can make a person whole
I've run to you from a river of flames
To bathe in your oceans of old
My home you will never grow cold
From your hills I can see your seas
Which must never end
Your arms the limbs of trees
They keep me from the edge
You lift me up on heavens wings
I breathe in life with every breath
Blessed am I to touch such happiness
I dream that I could breathe you in
And never set you free
As I hear your soothing lull-a-byes
Softly drifting through your trees
And when I see how you so provide
Or hear the hush of your streams
I am convinced this is a dream
I must be feeling an eternity
As your breezes caress my skin
Your earth and heavens consume me
And I feel laughter burst from within
As if I'd never seen
And will never see again
This grand beauty that you present.
If I could put you in a bottle
And take you back with me
To a world so cold
You may be the only key
Might you heal the troubled souls
Of those who cannot see
Nature you have all my life
Been the only home to me

Note: Here's another one from 'before'.
When I lived in Pennsylvania, I spent 75% of my free time in the wilderness (or in a tree, lol). Camping, hiking, walking, writing, reading, whatever, It was just so peaceful and beautiful. Trees that go on forever, mountains and valleys, black skies at night with millions of stars, animals running around everywhere, listening to the birds, running water, crickets chirping at night and all the harmonious nature sounds, crystal clear streams that you could actually swim in. Nothing like Texas (not where I live anyway). I really, really miss that. But anyway, being out in God's vast nature was just like being held in his arms. To me, it's obvious that I felt His presence, I just didn't realize that it was Him. What I wouldn't give for a whole day in that little world again, with just me and God.

My Walk
16 November 1998
Sometimes I reach a desperation
To which I feel there is no end
I keep on looking, seeing nothing
But the lengthy road ahead
I keep on searching for the answers
Keep on reaching for my dreams
But every day the sun keeps rising
And every night I lie to dream
The answers never come right to me
The road keeps winding to and fro
And when remembrance steals upon me
I think about days long ago
The road behind me is a long one
Hard and rugged it has been
And I still think if I could find them
So many answers lie within
But that long path at my back
Only holds a history
Of lessons learned and lessons lost
That only I shall see
And when the sun rises up tomorrow
I hope that I may see
All the trials within the day
That have been given me
May my feet not be too heavy
And my sorrows not too grim
To overcome my desperation
And carry on my walk again
© T. Hilborn
Note: I always like to read the words I wrote before I fully gave my life to Christ because it is now obvious that God was always with me, as I strayed from Him in my early adult life. He never left my side. He always watched over me and always gave me a gentle nudge in the right direction, until I finally came face to face with Him again! What an awesome thing to realize and be especially thankful for now that I've finally come home!

Your Memory
25 April 1996
Your memory is like a song
Playing over in my head
That I pray will never fade away
And sometimes the words
Are difficult to recall
But the beautiful music
Always plays on
Half a lifetime ago
I held your hand
Wanting to always
Be by your side
And although you are gone
You are still with me
Every step of the way
You have influenced my life
More than anyone else ever could
And although my time with you
Was cut short
I am so grateful
For every single moment
And for every single memory
That I have
Because memories
Are all that remain
And I cannot do a single thing
To bring you back
But I know today
And every day
That you will always be holding my hand

Tree of life
27 April 1998
Such a special gift a tree
Sole provider when in need
It gives me shelter from the storm
And builds a home to keep me warm
A place to sit for tired feet
A weary soul, a place to think
It gives me shade from the scorching sun
O my tree, the only one
So thoughtful to provide for me
A world of clean air to breathe
When I am hungry it bears me fruit
Then from its leaves I drink the dew
And when my secrets I do tell
A friend who keeps them very well
A solace or a place to cry
A resting place for when I die
O provider once again
A tree of life, mans truest friend

Note: Although I love this poem and the simple complexity of it, this poem was written before I gave my life completely over to God, when I loved Him but wasn't living for Him. I am grown up in Christ now and would have to say now that Jesus is my provider and He's also man's truest friend.

My Psalm to my Lord 1:1
1 November 2007
Jesus in my heart
Holy spirit I belong to you
God, I live my life
In service and gratitude
You’re the power in my life
The one that drives my soul
You give me peace, in anguish
It is you that makes me whole
Nothing ever eased the pain
I hurt. I cry. I pray.
Now there is no ache
That you won’t take away
Love isn’t large enough
To explain my heart for you
Hope is a mere word
There is nothing you can't do
I can't adore you enough
I don’t have the words to direct
To you, the precious devotion
That you deserve and respect
I want to share your grace and mercy
With all whom I know
I want to share the awe in my soul
So that in you, they’ll grow
But so many refuse
To hear your Word in their hearts
They turn from me and from you
And away they depart
I cry for their souls
I cry in the night
It’s essential that they see
The one choice, death or life
Where are they going?
Why won’t they hear?
Are they deaf and not hearing,
That the end is so near?
O Lord, hear my prayers
O Lord, feel my pain
Please show them on earth
There is nothing to gain
Just show them your love
From deep in your heart
Show them the cross
And the gift you impart
Jesus, You gave your life
And even now feel the sting
For each and every sinful act
That daily, to you, we bring
If that isn’t enough
We give you our sorrows to bear
And often are not thankful
For your love and your care
Lord God, with you all things are possible
With you all can overcome
I pray you help us teach the world
That you are the only One.
Help us share with our friends
Why we love you so much
Don’t let them hold to worldly things
And use the devil as a crutch
O Lord, they can all be fulfilled
They can all feel intense love
The heart that expands infinitely
With affection from above
And only you can give the gift
I pray you’ll help them to receive
To accept it in their soul today
I pray in you they will believe.
I pray they’ll give their lives to you
And make the sacrifice
Just as Jesus died for all of us
For if to live, we die
O Lord, I pray for families
For ours and all others
Please guide us in your way O God
Help us to love one another
Give us peace in the world
And toward one another, I pray
Help us to speak and share in love
Not causing others to stray
Lord God, I love you abundantly
I want to obey your commands
I want to listen to your spoken word to me
And do only as you plan
I pray you help me follow you
And listen to your voice
I pray I’ll feel your touch inside
O, in your presence, I rejoice
Lord, I thank you for your many gifts
Your teachings and unfailing love
I thank you, Lord, for your Word so true
O, so much, I am thankful of.
See the love in my heart
The obedience in my mind
The spirit in my soul
To you, I will never again go blind.
You’re my beginning, and my end
I belong only to you, my Lord
My devotion is to you alone
And to you I will give praise forever more.

Reflections on being a mom
1 November 2007
One word, precious
Life becomes.
A baby, a child
Love in your arms
Laugh for no reason
Cry at a smile
You own my heart
Beautiful child
Baby at breast
Connection untold
No other could know
The closeness it holds
Watching your face
For hours on end
Perfect in every way
Straight from God, you were sent
Tiny fingers
Bright blue eyes
My children, I love you
Without even trying
Holding little one
Exceedingly long
Although he sleeps
You sing his song
Checking in
Every hour at night
Just to make sure
She’s still all right.
The first of everything
Is amazing, at least
Can't even imagine
That I couldn’t foresee
With wonder and joy
Watch them grow
With expression, a smile
Personalities explode
A bond never broken
First gaze, mother to child
A warmth, never ceasing
From that very first smile
I’ll never feel so important
Than in being a mom
That from now till forever
My job will never be done
