Your Memory

25 April 1996

Your memory is like a song
Playing over in my head
That I pray will never fade away
And sometimes the words
Are difficult to recall
But the beautiful music
Always plays on
Half a lifetime ago
I held your hand
Wanting to always
Be by your side
And although you are gone
You are still with me
Every step of the way
You have influenced my life
More than anyone else ever could
And although my time with you
Was cut short
I am so grateful
For every single moment
And for every single memory
That I have
Because memories
Are all that remain
And I cannot do a single thing
To bring you back
But I know today
And every day
That you will always be holding my hand
