Hey Tin Man

1 November 2007

Hey tin man!
Where’s your heart?
Were you born without it, or did someone take it away?
Hey tin man!
Are you able to love?
Do you even know what to say?
Do you feel? Do you hear?
What happened to you that you can't let me near?
You break my heart
and yours must be broken,
if you even have a heart at all.
I know there’s someone in there,
more than just flesh and bones.
Isn’t he just dying to get out?
Isn’t he restless to see the world,
to see what life has to offer?
Isn’t he tired of the sadness and loneliness inside?
Tired of isolation?
Tired of all the pain?
There is something out there.
Really there is.
Not just something, but someone,
who’s been dying to get you out.
Dying for 2000 years.
And He wants to set you free.
Hey tin man!
You can have a new heart.
The old one will be made new.
He’ll show you real love.
He’ll take your sorrow from you.
Hey tin man!
Jesus is all you need.
Is it only that you need a heart?
Or is it too, that you can’t see?
